The Gospel Music Preservation Alliance (GMPA) is dedicated to safeguarding the rich legacy of gospel music. Since its founding in 1989 by Serena Blanco and a collective of accomplished singers and musicians, GMPA has been a leading force in celebrating and promoting this vital cultural heritage. As Philadelphia’s premier non-profit organization for gospel music preservation, GMPA brings together the expertise of individuals with over 150 years of combined experience in the field. Under Serena Blanco’s leadership, a board of directors was established, and committed members were recruited to further the organization’s mission. GMPA remains devoted to honoring gospel music’s profound influence on the industry, historically and today.
Beyond musical preservation, GMPA is deeply committed to service. Throughout its history, the Alliance has organized benefit concerts and donated proceeds to support nonprofits serving needy individuals. Past beneficiaries include:

GMPA proudly holds membership in the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NCGCC) and has made significant contributions to the organization since 2000. Its influence spans the tri-state area of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

Together, their work embodies Colossians 3:14 (KJV): “And above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
